Sales teams can use LinkedIn profiles, LeadIQ's free Chrome Extension and contact data providers to find accurate and reliable contact data without resorting to invasive methods.

While sales and GTM teams certainly need trustworthy contact data to build pipeline and hit their numbers, they also must respect prospects’ privacy and operate legally and ethically to obtain it.

So how do you find how to find someone's phone number on Linkedin? What about finding their email address on LinkedIn?

Unfortunately, in an age where companies are laying workers off en masse and people are switching jobs frequently, it can be difficult to maintain accurate and up-to-date contact data — whether a prospect or an existing customer you built a relationship with who may have changed job.

If you’re wondering how to find someone’s contact info on LinkedIn, you’ve come to the right place. In this post, we share seven noninvasive methods you can use to find someone’s contact data on LinkedIn.

1. Check their profile (duh!)

While some individuals may share this information under the "Contact Info" button in their profile - most individuals do not... plus... is is actually updated and accurate?

LinkedIn gives users the ability to add contact information to their profiles and it’s up to each user to determine whether or not they share this information.

Those who utilize the "contact info" feature are able to add various information to their profile, including their email address, phone number, and even their address. This is the first place to check if you can get someone's phone number from LinkedIn.

However, most folks, especially executives and decision makers likely don't have their contact information on their profile to reduce spam emails and phone calls. That's where our second tip for how to find someone's email or phone number on LinkedIn comes into play!

2. Leverage prospecting tools and Chrome extensions

It shouldn’t surprise you to find out that there are several purpose-built  LinkedIn extensions for contact details including Chrome extensions designed specifically to help you supercharge your prospecting efforts.

When using our free Chrome Extension you can be on someone's LinkedIn profile and if you open the extension, you can see their contact data including phone and email address without ever having to leave LinkedIn!

LeadIQ's Chrome Extension can mirror your LinkedIn Sales Navigator list so you can easily see contact information and more - including account details such as industry, company size, recent news, and funding information.

All data LeadIQ features is publicly available and refreshed consistently - we use a combination of data partnerships, public domain information, our data community, and proprietary algorithms to find and verify current contact data so you don’t have to. We also follow all compliance and data privacy laws to ensure we're always a trusted source of data.

3. Reach out and ask

If you’re interested in someone’s email or phone number, why not go straight to the source and ask them directly by connecting or sending them an InMail?

If you take this route, just make sure you’re respectful and provide a clear and valid reason for requesting their contact information. If they're someone you've never communicated with before, you may want to start by giving them a follow and engaging with their content for a few days or weeks prior to reaching out.

All the same sales cold outreach dos and don't still apply! When you do message them, focus on personalization, showing you've done your research, and the problems they might be having that you can solve.

4. Ask for a referral

Know someone who works at the same company as the individual you’re trying to get a hold of? Or are you close with someone who seems to have a solid relationship with the potential prospect?

Ask them for an intro and be sure to approach the request respectfully.

At LeadIQ, we’re all about helping people like you get better and better sales outcomes, so here’s another template to get your creative juices flowing:

Hi [First Name],

I hope you’re doing well — it’s been a long time!

I am looking to get ahold of [Name of Prospect] and see you both work at [name of company]. I’ve been wanting to get in touch with [Name], as I think they might be experiencing [insert problem you solve]. Would you be open to introducing us or sharing my contact information with them and letting them know I'm looking to get in touch?

My email address is [insert email].

Many thanks and I looking forward to hearing from you .

Thanks so much,

Again, for the best results, make sure to personalize these types of messages. It's better if you're already connected with the person you're reaching out to to ask for someone else's contact information!

5. Check their other links

You checked the information the prospect shared on LinkedIn. Unfortunately, they didn’t add their email address or phone number. But did they provide a link to their personal website?

Click any links they share in their contact info section or about section and poke around. The prospect might not be eager to share contact info publicly on LinkedIn but they might be happy to post it on their own websites, so maybe you can find what you’re looking for there.

6. Check their company website

Since LinkedIn is a professional networking site, everyone tells everyone where they work by default.

If you’re striking out using the other tactics, head on over to the prospect’s company website and see if you can find a “Meet Our Team” page or some version thereof. These pages often contain contact information for employees, including email addresses, phone numbers, and social media handles.
